Ah, the smell of chocolate cake can
waft
a long way!
'twas
never going to last long once Kevin knew there was cake! (And I know it's a contraction, but what the hey?)
I have to find
ways
lo loose weight. Kevin is a good friend and helps with the cake. That's fine.
I could
stay
a while if you like
Oh yes, and hide that
tray
with cake, please...
while you two
yarn
I'll just take that tray and I'll sort out your little cake problem...(burp)
It's a cake
trap.
But I don't step in I have to work on my beach figure ;-)
I need a
ramp
to get upstairs if I eat too much cake, I really really must try another diet.
I suspect you'll have an
army
of volunteers to help you out with the cake...
You have to
vary
your behavior. Cake is so good, but with moderation.
I tried
very
different tastes of cake already.
I can
rave
about fruit instead of cake. I bought a large peach today. I don't normally like them much. this one was unbelievably sweet and delicious. Glad I bought two, and I hope the other is just as nice tomorrow.
Then you must
have
made an excellent choice. I was looking for the new vegetarian meatballs they have on offer in local stores, but they are already sold out. Production capacities are too low for my appetite ;-)
I
gave
up on some meat substitutes because they seemed to have too much fat and salt. I'm going to make my own gluten steaks soon (seitan is the US name) as I haven't made those for years, and they are chewy like meat if you cook them correctly. I want to lose some weight as the operation is going to be rescheduled in a few weeks, and the best I can do is go vegan.
to go vegan would really
save
you from a lot of bad influences. Not easy to accomplish, bt certainly worth the effort. I think you will benefit by living longer. Christa cooked seitan some time ago, but it is not easy to get in our stores. She cookes with tofu now in place of meat. Great that you have decided to reschedule your op. I have the feeling it will be helpful.
I can't honestly say that I've ever come across a recipe where tofu actually tasted of something.
have
you found one? It would seem so...
very simple recipe: chop block of tofu in cubes, put in bowl, put in 2 (or 3) tablespoons of sambal, mix , cover bowl and put away for about 1 hr, stirfry tofu in 1 tablespoon of oil of choise (ie sunflower or olive or whatever) until warm
serve with rice or couscous and vegetables of choise

That sounds nice, Christine. I have one that I don't make, but a Chinese restaurant makes in Brisbane. It's salt and pepper tofu. It's made with silken tofu (although momen would be as nice), and they put this vague crumbly stuff on the outside. Of course it tastes like tofu, but the flavourings are delicious. I make a scrambled tofu with momen or silken tofu, which have the consistency of scrambled eggs. Fry up your veges of choice and add fried onion and garlic. Flavour with a chicken stock cube, and it tastes nice. It is an acquired taste, like avocados, but once you begin to find it pleasant, you begin to enjoy a variety of flavours with it. I dislike the hard tofu, although if it is ground up and mixed with gluten "meat" (seitan) and appropriately flavoured, it can give a similar texture to chicken.
organic manufacturers over here offer the hard tofu in several nicely marinated variations which are very tasty.
smoked tofu is our favourite because of its strong and aromatic taste:

That is the one we
like
most of all the variations.
Sounds like a successful
line
I'll make a note of the name and supplier, thanks.
I think it would be
fine
to experiment with that silken tofu, too, but it is hard to get in our stores.

ummmm Michael lives in Germany that is many a
mile
from the UK.
I know, but Michael can often access foreign brands through a big store there (whose name escapes me) and since you're all part of the EU, I assumed it might be available somewhere.
