Stumbled across this one - thought you might like it.

I,m not selfish, oh no, ask any of my friends, i,ll give anyone my last £1.00 with no hesitation, and they would tell you this, i try to help anyone if i can, thats why we are here, to help each other, its just most people haven't realised it yet or dont want to..

Ohhh, my head, i still have my cold, feel really rough with it...Aghhhrrrr...

Then you'll be happy to know that I have been suffering, too. My son brought a bug with him. All fluey, and with terrible stomach pains. He and his partner were knocked off their feet, the girls had it in turn, and I got sick for a couple of days. I'm probably not out of the woods yet, but the worst is over. I had temperatures for two days - and probably today again, as I keep feeling cold (it is the middle of summer). I didn't get the flu yet - maybe because of my diet, but I don't want to talk too soon. It may get me yet. The stomach pain was cruel. Nothing else, just pain.

In the middle of this, we decided to go and look at the local museum. We shouldn't have bothered. I'm not sure why small towns have museums. They are a trial, and dead boring.

The ankle biters went and fed the birds at a waterfowl anctuary a couple of times, and swam in a motel pool a couple of times, they did endless "craft" with all the junk toilet rolls, bottles and lids I've been collecting, one lost a tooth, they pulled up the kitchen chairs in front of the bird cages and watched the cockatiels endlessly, we played and told stories, sang and played "i spy" (I discovered the "n-ternet" begins with an "n") went to church, and generally had cuddles and tickles.

I felt so sorry for them all, as they were all so sick. It wasn't any fun sometimes. But at least I saw them. A great way to end the year!

I hope you're a bit better, Mike. And a very happy New Year to you!

Have a wonderful new year dezzie ...

Well, I'm starting my wonderful new year. I slept in until about 8:30 - at least two hours longer than usual. Our summer has been not too bad so far. Only hovering around 29C and cool nights - about 17C. I'm sure January has some little nasties in store, but it's great. Considering my car air conditioner is now clapped out, I am relieved. It's still like stepping into an oven if I park in the sun, though.

You know, there are honest tradesmen. I called a mobile mechanic out to re-gas the air con. He did that, but it still wouldn't work. He tested it, and the compressor is gone. He only charged me $30 for the gas, and nothing more. No call-out fee or anything. I could have hugged him.

I used to like the cold. I still hate the heat. But as I get older, I do find it hard to cope in the cold. The thing is, the cold weather here has no humidity, so I feel better. If I was over there, I think I might have to open a vein.

1592. happyture1 January 2012, 5:27 GMT +01:00

ha ha ha,,you'd freeze gurl, ive been ere all me life an i aint acclimatised to UKLand yet Orrible N Cold it is!!

1593. xymonau1 January 2012, 6:36 GMT +01:00

Technically it should be colder, but you've got a warm ocean current. I read yesterday about two Australians who have just walked to the South Pole and are on their way back. They now have to ration food as they had blizzards there most of the time. You'd think they might have taken a wee bit more, just in case, given that most explorers in that neck of the woods die of hunger. Although they have brought it on themselves, I hope they make it. I don't mind exploration for a purpose, but this was just to say they'd done it.

1594. happyture1 January 2012, 10:29 GMT +01:00
