Camera for Christmas!

1. happyture13 December 2011, 7:37 GMT +01:00

Well its that time of year again, the photography shops are full to the britches with sparkly new cameras with more pixels and wonder gadgetry than you can wave a stick at, I am looking for a new camera but dont want to have a wheelbarrow to carry it around, I have been looking closely at the Panasonic G3 amazed at the size and control this camera seems to have, yet i am concerned that the iso settings only goes down to 160iso,,,,that i feel is rather high as my little fuji and Big Nikon go down much lower around 80iso with the fuji and 100iso with the Nikon,,,I can hear you all saying OMG he's rambling again, BUT i would love to hear your opinions on the many cameras that are on the market at the moment.

Wow. People do such gruesome things to themselves in the name of beauty, don't they?

99. happyture1 January 2012, 10:30 GMT +01:00

I think i could just read Canon on it,,,But,,,,Are you going to ask for it back?

100. xymonau1 January 2012, 12:24 GMT +01:00

No. And let us never speak of it again. I blame my granddaughters. If they hadn't looked so cute feeding the ducks, I wouldn't have lost it.

See,,its not always the expensive thats best,,,,,i told my mrs that when i bought her pufumes for christmas,,,

108. xymonau3 January 2012, 5:17 GMT +01:00

Yeah - fumes is right. I have a weakness. I like expensive perfume. I hate cheap perfume. But I don't like what's done to aniimals in the name of perfume. So I settle for middle range stuff. I figure I can't look good any more, but I sure can smell good.

109. happyture3 January 2012, 10:59 GMT +01:00

yes your right, i dont like the smell of cheap perfume, it smells like cleaning agents dont they, the one i got my partner smelt more upper class,,like fly spray or air freshener ,,,mmmmm...

110. xymonau3 January 2012, 11:03 GMT +01:00

Disinfectant is good. Nice an' piney. A bit behind yer ears an' dab it on yer hanky, an' voila! Do they still use hankies?

111. happyture3 January 2012, 11:05 GMT +01:00

Do they still do Californian poppy,,now that was some rum tack!!!! you can smell that stuff from one end of the shopping centre to the other!!!

112. xymonau3 January 2012, 11:06 GMT +01:00

Wasn't that men's hair grease?

113. happyture3 January 2012, 11:10 GMT +01:00

Na,, perfume..wicked stuff to, i can remember when i was a little boy, i farted and my nan got it out of her handbag and sprinkled it everywhere,,even then i thought the fart smelt better than that stuff...

114. xymonau3 January 2012, 11:13 GMT +01:00

Well, in this country, it was an oil for slicking down men's hair. Seriously. My father used to wear it in the sixties.

I remember my mother used to wear "Three Flowers" talcum powder in the same era.

115. happyture3 January 2012, 11:18 GMT +01:00

Aint it strange what you can remember....i can remember perfume and grandads stinky smoking pipe, i can still smell both if i shut my eyes... 118. xymonau3 January 2012, 11:39 GMT +01:00

You are. So many people never get to see their grandkids. Don't they get sophisticated once they start school, though? My girls are so full of information, reading, never stop talking, asking questions and generally little sponges for information. I was teaching them to paint pictures in PhotoImpact, and I had to tell them once only how to do things, and they were off, changing colours and brush sizes, inverting the colours, filling the colours. Amazing. I wish I'd been able to learn something like it when I was young. It was so cute watching them using the mouse. They just have it instinctively.

119. happyture4 January 2012, 11:55 GMT +01:00

Yeah its amazing, they grasp things instantly dont they, and they are all as quick as each other now too, when i was in skool there was always one that sat at the back of the class gazing out the window who when asked didnt know what we had been talking about,,,,this seems to have been replaced now by dyslexic's etc etc,, when i was in skool they where called plane thicko's ....My grandson seems to enjoy electronics, he can trace a working/ none working circuit in seconds, much faster than me anyway..

120. xymonau4 January 2012, 12:32 GMT +01:00

I think young kids - maybe from about eight or so - should start the basics of many jobs, to find what they like and what they're good at. In third world countries little kids are earning a living at that age, so it's not beyond them to learn real skills. When my sisters went to school, they were allowed to leave at age 12 and go to work. They all did.

121. happyture4 January 2012, 19:44 GMT +01:00

Yeah,,thats wot i say, 6 years old, juss the right size to put up the chimney ....
