change of front photos

1. lusi26 October 2011, 10:12 GMT +02:00

Is it a big technical problem to change more often the front photos? There are a lot of photographers that also deserve to have their photo on the front page, and also it makes the site more "alive". Would changing the "set" of images every week or two be too much?

Nice idea :)

We, RGBStock, would be more then happy to change more often the front page photos.

What photos do you have in mind? Please post a set of five photos, and surprise me!

Imagine how they would look like in a relative small area of 670 by 280 pixels; not every good photo will look good in that format.

We suggest any of these (may easily be cropped a bit to fit into 670 by 280 px):

It is indeed very hard to choose. Let them rotate quite often :)

I also managed six, rather than five, suggestions:

I also had a bit of fun trying to see whether any of my own gallery would work - ego of course gets in the way of sensible suggestion, however!!

Oh, no! I just got an image on there and now you want to change them! ARGH! LOL

@6 Don't worry, I think your image is quite safe. Each image should be for some time on the front. For example, my daisies have been long enough, and should be changed. Changing 2 or 3 images every 2 weeks would be OK to have more dynamic and at the same time leaving an image for at least a month.
Also, I think that it would be nice to have on front only images that are "exclusive", i.e., can't be found on any other free stock sites. So when a user opens the RGB page, says: Oh, this is something I haven't seen before!
(perhaps, under description, we should add "exclusive" to the images we upload only on RGB).

I agree with you Sanja. Sounds to me like good suggestions.

Not sure how we could verify if an image was exclusive. And what would we do if one of the images marked exclusive shows up on another site sometime later?

That would all have to be planned out.

In the meantime, I find the new series of front page photos to be refreshing and exciting.

It should be on the uploader's concience not to "cheat". Or, if he/she plans to upload it somewhere else, he just has to delete the word "exclusive" from the description. That way the image will not be taken in account by the administrator choosing front photos. Of course, it would be good to have on the uploading page a short info about adding the word (or perhaps even keyword ) "exclusive", if RGB is the only place that the image is uploaded... for all the people that do not read this Forum.
Well, just my thoughts....

I like the idea of exclusivity. If the image can only be had here, then it's a good reason to come here. I wonder if the line, "Image exclusive to RGBStock.com" would then show up on Google?

11. micromoth2 November 2011, 13:35 GMT +01:00

Most of my images are exclusive to RGB Stock. Some are repeated at a lower resolution on www.caedes.net, but there are tight restrictions on usage there, they can't be used in the way the ones on RGB Stock can. Do these count as "exclusive"?

12. lusi2 November 2011, 16:02 GMT +01:00

Perhaps you could put "exclusive HQ" :)

13. gesinek2 November 2011, 20:41 GMT +01:00

Hm? I thought all images which we upload should be exclusive for rgbstock. I thought there was something in the upload rules or so but I really can't find it again.

I agree to Sanja, eventhogh I like her daisies at the front page very much and also as whole picture.

I visited the random section for further suggestions and it's really not too simple to find pictures that can be cropped by only clicking through it. My search goes on, it's an interesting theme cause I often have to look for pictures that can be cropped, resized or something for websites.
If you want you can take a look at my suggestion for a client (http://www.backlog.de/doktor).
